ABOUT ADVANCED FACIALS

wHAT IT IS

Advanced facials work by combining multiple techniques and technologies to address a variety of skin conditions, leading to healthier, clearer, and more youthful looking skin.

Reinvigorate post treatment radiance with products from Jan Marini Skin Research® and Alastin®.

Advanced facials work by combining specialized techniques and products to target specific skin concerns and improve overall skin health. Advanced treatment can include the following:

Microdermabrasion uses a diamond tipped wand or fine crystal to exfoliate the skin.

Hydra-facial application of serums, masks and moisturizers that penetrate deeply into the skin.

Technology integration, ultrasonic devices, uses high frequency waves to enhance product penetration and stimulate collagen.

Dermaplanning is a minimally invasive cosmetic procedure that removes the top layer of dead skin cells and vellus hair (peach fuzz) from the face. It is done using a sterile surgical blade that is gently scraped across the skin leaving smooth youthful skin.

How it works

On average, a facial can take between 30-90 minutes, depending on the type of facial.

Your facial will start with Skin Analysis. We will evaluate your skin type and any issues. This may involve visual inspection, touch, and sometimes advance tools like skin scanners. To ensure the treatment is tailored to your skin’s unique needs.

We then begin deep cleaning using specialized cleansers and steams to remove impurities from the skin’s surface and pores. This prepares the skin for subsequent treatments and improves the products absorption.

Exfoliants are the next step to remove the dead skin cells. Methods of removal include mechanical (scrubs, microdermabrasion, chemical (alpha beta hydroxy acids), or enzymatic (natural enzymes). This promotes cell turnover, smooths texture, and brightens the complexion.

You can expect little to no downtime for most facials.

FAQs

  • • Please arrive with clean, makeup-free, skin so that we may complete the consultation.

    • Avoid NSAIDS (i.e. Ibuprofen®, Advil®, Motrin®, Aleve®, Celebrex®), Fish oil, Gingko Biloba, St. John’s Wort and high doses of Vitamin E for one week prior to appointment.

    • Avoid Retin-A, Tretinoin, and Retinoids for three days prior to injection.

    • Avoid drinking alcohol for 24 hours prior to injection.

    • Clients who are pregnant or nursing may not be eligible for all treatment types.

  • The extraction and exfoliation portions can be uncomfortable to some clients. Your technician will monitor how you are feeling the entire treatment. Topical numbing agents can be utilized to lesson discomfort.

  • One of the things that makes facials so great is there's little downtime. We ask that you give your skin 24 hours with no make-up is possible, and no excessive sweating.

  • Results can be seen immediately after treatment and will get better over the course of 2-3 days. Monthly treatment is usually ideal for most skin tones.

  • • Speaking of harmful UV rays, you should always protect your skin from sun damage, but especially after a facial. Try to avoid direct sun exposure for a few days after your treatment. If you must go outside, practice sun-safe habits like wearing a broad-spectrum sunscreen with SPF 30 (50+ preferred) and a wide-brimmed hat.

    • While hyaluronic acid does a great job of hydrating your skin from the outside, don’t forget to stay hydrated from the inside. Hydration is essential for maintaining your skin's elasticity and radiance. It also helps your body flush out toxins and improves blood flow, which contributes to clearer skin.

    • If you can manage, plan to keep your face bare after a facial and skip the makeup. This gives your skin a chance to breathe and recover. Your pores will likely still be open and vulnerable after all the steaming and cleansing, so applying makeup may lead to irritation, clogging, or future breakouts.

    • Physical activity is undoubtedly important for your overall health. But try not to overdo it after a facial. Intense workouts (and hot yoga!) can lead to excessive sweating, which can irritate skin or clog pores. Sweating can also remove any serums that your esthetician may have applied during the facial.

    • Though your facial may have included some steaming, you should avoid any direct heat to your skin afterward, which can cause swelling and redness to your vulnerable skin. Steam rooms and saunas also make you sweat, potentially leading to those clogged pores we mentioned earlier.
